Jake…Your hilarious!!!

Today Jakob asked if he could hold his sister. He has been coming around to his sister over the last few days and is now starting to help out more, which makes me so happy. What was hilarious today is when he was holding her she pooped, loudly I might add, and Jakob and I started laughing so hard. Then he said “Mommy…get the baby, I’m outa here”. I haven’t laughed so hard in a while. Fortunately I also captured these moments with the camera!

Maddy

O.K., I am one of those Mom’s. The one that takes a million pictures and wants to share them. I had this problem bad enough when I had Jakob but that was before we had a digital camera and now I can take a million more pictures without having to pay to have them developed. So speaking of pictures…here are a few I took of Maddy this morning. She is so stinkin cute. I can’t believe she is already 9 days old! It goes so fast.

One Week Old!!!!

I can’t believe Madison is already 1 week old. Time sure does fly. I took a great picture yesterday of my Mom with Jake & Maddy, I was also lucky enough to take a picture today where she was smiling. When she sleeps she makes all kinds of faces. Sometimes she will smile and then the next minute she is grimacing like she is going to start crying. It is seriously entertaining. I just thought I would share those pic’s.

Madison Brooke

Her she is!!!!!

Madison Brooke

Madison Brooke was born April 22nd at 9:28am weighing 6lbs 8oz and measuring 19.5 inches long. She is so cute. Such a good baby too! Believe it or not she has only been waking about 1-2 times a night. That is definitely a big difference from Jakob. He woke up nearly every 1-2 hours at night. That was very exhausting. Hopefully Madison keeps her current schedule!

Mommy & Madison

Daddy & Madison

It has been a long 5 days for sure. Jakob had a really rough time with Mommy & Daddy being at the hospital. He endes=t to release a c-section patient that quick but I got up and walking around the night of Madison’s birth. I was released from the hospital Thursday afternoon and we went home. I was having really bad headaches that I thought were sinus related. Unfortunately Josh checked me back into the hospital on Friday evening because I had a spinal headache from the c-section. My wonderful anesthesiologist Don, had to put a blood patch over the hole where my spinal was and I layed flat on my back for 4 hours in the hospital. I was about to crawl out of my skin I was so uncomfortable. Fortunately it worked and my headache was gone. I was released at almost midnight and so glad to get home and mostly to be without a terrible headache. I am now confined to doing mostly nothing for the next 7-10 days. Apparently any straining can cause the blood patch to blow off my spine and I would be back in the hospital for another blood patch. Don’t want to be doing that!

So more about Madison…it’s hard to tell who she looks like. She certainly has my tiny ears. Her hair is a dark blonde/light brown. She is so small and petite. I have a hard time remembering Jakob being so small. She sleeps really well as long as she is in her Mommy or Daddy’s arms (she loves the skin to skin contact).

Jakob holds his sister for the first time

Jakob is a really good brother. He loves to make sure she has a blanket on, start the swing and music for her, and most of all he loves to show her the transformers catalog so she can pick out which transformers she will be asking Santa for! He is so funny! Being a parent is such a wonderful experience.

Adding Flickr Images to your Wordpress Posts

There are many ways to add images to your Wordpress Posts. I personally like to add images via my Flickr account. A Flickr account can be obtained for free here! I would recommend downloading Flickr’s uploadr software to your computer and using it to upload your images so that you can set it to resize your images. If you have a free Flickr account you have a max of 100mb of uploads to your account per month. So resizing will increase you ability to upload more photos while not using to much bandwidth.

When you have Flickr uploadr downloaded and opened click on upload and then preferences:

Grab the URL

Under the automatic resizing drop down menu choose a size. I personally am choosing 800 pixels because it will render the smallest file size but still a nice sized image.

resize

Click OK. Now you can begin to drag and drop your photos into the left panel of Flickr uploadr. Highlight the pictures you wish to upload in the left panel. On the right side set your title, desciptions, tags etc. then click upload.

Uploadr

When it is finished uploading a little box will pop up. Click on “go to flickr”. Here you will be able to pick which set to add it to and then click on “Save this batch”. You will then be taken to the next page where you can click on your uploaded photo. This will take you to a page that looks like this:

Click on all sizes

Click on all sizes above the picture. The next page will display the different size options. For posting in your wordpress blog I recommend using the small option and if you wish for people to have the option to view a larger image you can simply link the two which I will further explain below. Click on small and you will see the smaller sized image load. Below the image you will see two options. Highlight and copy option number 2 “grab the photo’s URL”.

Grab the URL

Now go to your wordpress blog post. Click on the tree icon above the post box. You will see a little insert/edit image box appear. Paste the link into the Image URL box and add a description then click on insert.

Paste the link

You should now see the image. To link to a larger image return to your flicker account. Click on Medium or Large and then copy that link. Go back to your wordpress post and click on the image and then click on the icon of the chain link (not the broken link). This will open a box where once again you will paste the link into the Link URL box. Add a title if you wish and then click on update.

Link the larger image

Go ahead and finish your post and then click on Save and Continue Editing. There will then be a preview link above the left side of the post box. Click on it and check your post to make sure everything looks great. If all is good go ahead and publish the post

Cast One On The Blog

I just finished creating a blog for Cast One On… a local yarn shoppe for whom I also created an e-commerce site. My client is very sweet and she really loves leopard print so I did my best to incorporate it into the blog theme. I think it’s very cute! It is going to be a fun place for her and her knit club members to post there work. It should be an interesting blog to keep an eye on! If you are interested in taking a look yourself it can be found at:

Cast One On Blog

Cast One On is On!!!!

Cast One On, an e-commerce site I built, is officially open for business. We have entered over 418 different types of yarn and getting ready to add more products such as knitting needles etc. So if you want to get some really cool yarns to knit with head on over there! The Mountain Colors hand painted yarns are so beautiful that I think I may have to learn how to knit myself a hat or scarf. I just love the colors that yarn comes in.

The Art of Visual Enticement

I guess one wasn’t enough. Veerle really has me thinking about what graphic design is. I couldn’t sleep last night with all the ideas going through my head. Then I realized the purpose of most graphic art is to entice. Hence the 2nd entry for this competition “The Art of Visual Enticement”!

What is Graphic Design?

What is Graphic Design? This was the subject of a recent post on Veerle’s Blog which turned into a poster competition she created. I was very excited to participate in this and although I threw around a lot of different ideas I finally ended at the conclusion that graphic design is communication through imagination. So below is my entry for this competition. There are definitely many talented people entering this competition. I just love seeing all the different interpretations everyone has. You can check out some of the other entries here.

The Kitchen Claw site is up

I finally finished the Kitchen Claw website and it is up at it’s permanent address:

I really like the design of this site. It’s simple yet gets the point across. I love the oven door too!
